Offensive Stance in Basketball

Offensive Stance in Basketball
Playing basketball is fun. However to really enjoy this sport, like any other sport, you need some basic know-how of the sport. Basketball may look simple; it is actually, but this simplicity is hard to achieve. You must know all the fundamentals of the game; there is hardly any room for confusion about the basics.
Remember! Stance is an important fundamental element. As you know, it’s a quick game where you have to move swiftly in a very calculated and planned manner and not in a haphazard way. For this you have to position yourself in such a way that you can perform to the best of your ability.
The triple threat position is one of the most basic elements in basketball, it is actually your stance and so a first and real step towards actual playing. The position is used for both offense and defense in almost every situation. The word triple is used because of the three things you can do from this position: you can pass or receive a pass, you can dribble or drive and you can shoot. On defense you can guard the man with the ball, guard the man without the ball, and break up play.

The triple threat is a position of your body, and hence you should learn it before you go on to any other part of the game. For this position always keep in mind that your feet are shoulder-width apart and that your weight is on the balls of your feet, with heels just slightly touching the floor. Further, you should bend slightly and drop your hips. See that your head is centered between your feet and your chin is up. Take care that your hands should be kept above your waist.
Practice the triple threat position as much as you can because you will be using it every time. Make it your second nature; it should come by itself, without thinking or actually making efforts for it.
